Assessment

What Does a Proper Roof Inspection Include?

What should actually be looked at, recorded and photographed during a roof assessment.

4 min read

Beyond a look at the roof

An inspection that only considers the visible roofing material misses most of what determines cost, programme and risk.

What should be assessed

Existing roof condition and remaining life. Roof geometry, planes and junctions. Flashings and penetrations. Substrate, battens and fixings. Drainage — gutters, valleys, downpipes and outlets. Access and safe working requirements. Signs of previous repairs or water ingress. Likely timber condition beneath.

What you should receive afterwards

Photographic evidence of what was found and a plain-language explanation of the options available, before pricing becomes the conversation.
